Projects That Failed: Metal Frag

Soundtracks

Metal Frag was a indie game that I was approached and asked to do a soundtrack for. As I was not doing too much outside my job in early 2009 I thought it would be a quick and fun thing to do. Unfortunately, schedules slip as they usually do, and due to the beginning of grad school I told the guy in charge that I would have to bow out of the project. All that remains from my participation are the following three songs in various stages of completion:

This first one was the theme for the Green Army (the good guys). The aim was to have an uplifting and slightly cartoony march-type song. I think I may have gone a little overboard.

This second song was the theme for the Black Army (the bad guys). Again, it is cartoony, but much less finished than the Green Army theme.

The final song was the first mock up of the opening screen music. This was the first sketch I did for Metal Frag, before I had much to go on in terms of feel or aim of the music. That’s why it sounds so out of place next to the more traditionally orchestrated first two songs.

Hope everyone enjoys them! It’s always entertaining to think what might have been.

Hey! I’m lazy!

Sold my desktop to move towards a more mobile music mixing platform. In the meantime my old Thinkpad X61 is loaded up with an old copy of Reason and churning out mediocre music!

Wow that little bridge section in the middle is jarring.

It’s never as bad as it looks

The weather today is blue, a deep blue. Happiness is just right around the corner, though.

Blast from the past, Pt. 2

Remixes

This is another remix that I did a pretty long time ago that has sort of disappeared from a lot of the main sites once OCRemix declared it not welcome on their site. I have always loved Frank Klepacki’s music and the work that he did on the various Command and Conquer games throughout the years. This song is a remix of Pharotek from the Tiberian Sun soundtrack. I named it Pharoteknical because I am creative like that. Enjoy.

Short Songs

Song Sketches, Unfinished

Not a lot on the post front recently. I blame a lot of things for that, mostly myself (ok, only myself), but I have a plan to at least put up some semi-regular content. What I think I’m going to start using this space for is to post stuff that normally I’d just squirrel away on my hard drive. So, you can look forward to short snippets of songs that I do when I’m learning new tools, techniques, or just messing around in my sequencer. to start it off, here’s a new one that I called “tripbeat”
